Divorce:

Case:Elan, 8 years old                                                                       

 Issue: Elan is often angry at the boyfriend of 2 years  of his mother. His mom is very equipped for  emotional support of Elan. The boyfriend  came in their life a year after  Elan's father passed. The mother is seeking  help for her son to be more happy                                                                                             

Family History:  Elan lost his dad in a car accident, when he was 5 years old. The parents were already in a divorce procedure. 

Resolution: Elan  is very naturally involved  in the constellation. He chooses  a woman to represent his father. During the constellation the healing sentences of the father gave Elan 'permission' to like and accept the new partner of his mom. The father shared that he loves and supports Elan eternally and would always be near to him. The loving expression on the face of Elan was very moving for the audience.

Comments: Elan was freed from the pressure of loyalty to his father. The way to a healthy relationship with the partner of the mom was open. Since this constellation his attitude has changed totally towards the boyfriend until now, 2 years later.

Addiction:    

Case: Max, 34-years-old, with a 5-year-old son
Issue: Max had been addicted to cigarette smoking since he was fourteen.
Family History: His father died when Max was six of lung cancer. His father's father died of black lung when Max's father was only eight.
Resolution: Max closed his eyes and visualized his father telling him not to die and abandon his son, as he and his father had done. His father told him that by living a long life, Max would honor his memory and break the family legacy. Max wept as he visualized his father holding him. He promised his father that he would quit smoking, and he did.
Comments: Max had been on a clear path to die young like his father and grandfather, and leave his small son fatherless. Children whose parents die young often have difficulty thriving. There appears to be an unconscious loyalty to follow down the same path. An intellectual understanding of the family connection is not enough to shift the behavior. Often, the understanding must be accompanied by a visceral experience.
